The Causes of Road Accidents
Road accident is one of the many problems Bangladesh is
beset with. Nowadays, it has become a national catastrophe or crisis for
Bangladesh. Every day road accidents are taking away enormous innocent lives
ruthlessly. Whenever we read newspapers, we find news of unexpected road crashes.
It has even become dreadful to walk along or drive on the busy roads. Time has
come to point out every single reason for road accidents. Actually, the causes
of road accidents are too many to describe. One of the main reasons is the
carelessness and inexperience of our drivers. Most of them even have no training
let alone any driving license. Defective and obsolete vehicles are also
responsible for accidents. Our roads are also narrow and dilapidated. Sometimes,
overtaking tendency among drivers cause fatal accidents. Besides, scarcity of traffic
police, road dividers, speed breakers and over-bridges also work behind road
accidents. We, passers-by, are also responsible in many cases. We cross roads
carelessly and become victims to road accidents. Again, the excessive plying of
rickshaws and vans in the urban areas make the roads jam-packed and cause
accidents. The footpaths are often seen to occupied by hawkers. Finally, the
laws to prevent road accidents are not up-to-date. It is high time the
government declared road accident as a national disaster and took proper steps
to fix every problem mentioned above.
